Help Build Strong Kids, Strong Families and Strong Communities

The YMCA, with the charitable support from our community, has been making a difference, helping build strong kids, strong families and strong communities in Kansas City. Now, our community is facing many more economic challenges. However, we remain committed to ensuring that thousands of children and families continue to benefit from YMCA programs and services.

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City turns no individual or family away due to an inability to pay the stated fees. Each year donor gifts allow YMCA volunteers and staff to reach out to thousands of people in our community who cannot afford the YMCA programs and services. In 2008, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City provided more than $3,550,000 in financial assistance and subsidized programs to help nearly 35,000 people in need within our community. More specifically, because of the community’s charitable contributions, more than one-third of all the people we served were able to participate in swim lessons, quality child care, youth sports, teen leadership activities, health and fitness classes, and other character building programs that instill the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
